My figure skating career began at age 6, when my parents enrolled me in the recreational ice skating program at the local ice rink in my hometown of Hawkesbury, Ontario. My passion and dedication for figure skating quickly led to private skating lessons and my first freestyle competition within the same season.
As an amateur figure skater, I excelled in both the artistry and athleticism of skating, which in turn, put me on the fast-track in the discipline of ice dancing. I sought out my first competitive ice dance partner at age 13, and we competed in our first Canadian National Figure Skating Championship after only 7 months of training together. My amateur success brought me to several national, international and junior world level figure skating competitions as a member of the Canadian National Figure Skating Team.
While training as an elite athlete, I also achieved success academically through the Sport-Etudes program at the De Mortagne High School in suburban Montreal. In 1993, I moved to the United States and attended West Chester University, in West Chester, PA. In 1997, I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Communication Studies.
My professional figure skating career began in 1994, when I decided to explore coaching. Currently, I specialize in figure skating choreography from the grassroots to the elite level including adult skaters. I also teach moves in the field, ice dance and freeskating. |
